Cardinal Stritch Retreat House
The Cardinal Stritch Retreat House is a place to reflect, to pray and to rest for priests, bishops, deacons, men and women religious and all the Christian faithful. Our mission is to provide hospitality to you so as to assure your comfort and provide the quiet so necessary to listen to God’s call.
The House schedules a variety of retreats: traditional preached retreats, silent and directed retreats, retreats for particular groups, and private retreats. A staff member is also available for spiritual direction. If you wish to schedule time to get away and pray for yourself or a group, please call us at (847) 566-6060, to make arrangements.
Our spiritual life develops within the living and dynamic community of Christian disciples. We come to know the Lord more intimately through our participation in the Christian mystery celebrated in the sacraments, our daily experiences and our personal prayer. Like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus we gain insight and understanding of our relationship with God through conversation with others. We need to ask questions, seek clarifications, listen to the experience of others and be reminded of the love that God has for each of us.
Often in that context of spiritual direction, Jesus himself is present but we do not always recognize his presence in our lives. The two disciples conversed and debated, they listened to Jesus explain the meaning of the Scriptures and finally, they recognized him when he took bread and gave it to them. “With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him…” (Luke 24:31) If you are seeking to converse with another about your relationship with God and recognize Jesus present in your life, perhaps spiritual direction may assist you. The Holy Spirit often reveals the presence of Jesus in our lives through this ongoing conversation. The Cardinal Stritch Retreat House offers opportunities to discuss your relationship with the Lord and confirm that you are seeking Him along the right path.
The Retreat House has ground level access with plenty of parking, elevator access to all floors, and a beautiful chapel.
