Join Karuna from Light on Kundalini as she guides you through an explorative experience of kundalini yoga and meditation. Gain greater awareness and transform limiting beliefs with this introduction to kundalini yoga. Immerse yourself into this life-changing practice and learn to use kriyasa mixture of breath, poses, and mantrasto move energy in the body and achieve specific attitudes, mentalities, and behaviors. You will experience just a few of the thousands of kriyas taught by kundalini yoga founder, Yogi Bhajan, that can range from uplifting your spirits to confronting your deepest desires.

A practice of kundalini yoga illuminates the answers to questions like: How do I want to live my life and fulfill my dreams? How can I be more spontaneous? How can I develop a deeper awareness of myself and spirit? How can I develop a more loving and compassionate heart? How can I be of deeper service to others?

Based in Boulder, CO, she teaches daily group yoga classes and private lessons, leads weekend intensives on varying themes including relationships, women’s issues and mastering challenges, and leads retreats internationally.

Karuna is an Associate Level Trainer in the Aquarian Trainer Academy. She arranges Level One teacher training programs and Level Two teacher training modules in conjunction with Lead Teachers from the Kundalini Research Institute. In addition, she offers guided health cleanses, and organizes special events featuring world-renowned Kundalini Yoga teachers, artists and musicians.

Certified in teaching yoga to children, teenagers and prenatal moms, Karuna has taught for the Santa Monica/Malibu school system in California, leading classes for second and fourth graders, as well as high school students.

Karuna’s Path
A classically trained actress and former Ford model, Karuna’s path to self discovery began long before she ever took her first Kundalini class. While studying at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England, she began teaching yoga professionally to actors, classmates, and private referrals. She later helped develop The Life Centre’s yoga program in London. As the actor, Anthony Hopkins, once said to her, “You have to find yourself to be yourself.”

Finding Herself and Being Herself
Karuna continued to find more of herself as she studied Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Lakota Sioux healing tradition. As her exploration of spiritual practices continued to deepen, she attended a Kundalini yoga class in Los Angeles taught by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa.

Immediately, Karuna was captivated by this amazing technology—unlike any other yoga she had experienced—in which posture, breath, mantra and meditation blend into a rich whole. Gurmukh invited Karuna to apprentice with her, and this was a great honor, as Gurmukh was personally trained by Yogi Bhajan, whose teachings are the foundation of Kundalini Yoga in the western world.

Karuna Shines
Today, Karuna shares those treasured teachings with Kundalini yoga students in Boulder, and all over the world. True to her spiritual name, which means “compassion,” Karuna likens herself to a coach, helping her students push beyond self-imposed limits. Her classes are filled with humor, music and the spirit of transformation. And Anthony Hopkins would be happy to know that she continues to find herself more and more every day, in each of her students’ faces.
I have to admit that many challenges came up for me during the Kriya for Disease Resistance. I laughed, cried and for the most part just had to be still in corpse pose. It was very challenging and I did what I could, but . . . .

I’m hooked!! I love this stuff—the kriyas, meditations and chants and most of the idea of healing my body, mind and spirit.

I took Mark's classes and I mostly enjoyed the depth of his presentation, his clear vision. I also like to hear him interacting with people--really taking time to listen and to understand. I consider Mark one of my most inspiring teachers.

- H.

I took the course by Cynthia Bourgeault on the four voices of discernment. I enjoyed that very much, as it was very practical.

- C.

I like your classes on developing my contemplative prayer.

- R.

I took Four Voices taught by Cynthia Bourgeault. I enjoyed the teaching, then the practical instruction.
